Michelmas Singers

ACTIVITIESThe Michelmas Singers are a renowned mixed choir based in Teesside and performing a wide range of music, both unaccompanied and with keyboard or chamber orchestras, specialising in music of the 16th and 20th centuries.
There are around 20 singers giving 4-8 concerts per year, and their Musical Director is Sam Gardner.
The Choir was founded on Michelmas day 1967. Favourite composers range from Monteverdi, Byrd, Tallis and Victoria through Purcell and Bach to Poulenc, Parry and Finzi, but the choir has a very wide repertoire.
Concerts range from intimate unaccompanied performances of madrigals and part songs through to major and challenging works of the choral repertoire with orchestral accompaniment. The choir is also always keen to perform for charities.
