Angrove Singers

ACTIVITIESThe Angrove Singers of Great Ayton is a mixed 4-part choir with around 50 members. The choir began as a Methodist Guild Choir at least 55 years ago, then it became a concert party, and gradually accepted members from a much wider circle, including all four Churches in the village. It now also has singers not affiliated to any of the Churches and members from the wider geographical area.

We are fortunate to have Jeremy Harbottle as our musical Director and Jenny Hesford on the piano. We enjoy our music-making!

Our repertoire contains a wide range of popular and classical music from the sixteenth century to the present day. We give 3 public performances a year including a Concert of Christmas Music, sacred music for Good Friday and a Summer Concert. The proceeds from the Christmas & Good Friday events go to charities chosen by the choir. The Summer Concert earns money to support the choir, buying music, etc – costs not covered by the Subscriptions, which pay for the hire of our rehearsal and concert venues, together with our insurance.
MEMBERSHIPRehearsals are on Thursday evenings in term time from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm in Great Ayton Methodist Church Youth Hall, TS9 6AD.
New members are always welcome and there are no auditions. Subs are £85 per year, payable in September, or £30 per term. The first two rehearsals are free.
